Priors Wood get GOLD Games Mark Award

We are delighted to announce that we, Priors Wood

Primary School have achieved the   GOLD

for Sainsbury’sSchoolGames MarkAwardforthe

2016/17 academic year.



The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.



Our sporting achievements this year include:


  • Year 5 Herts Games & WWW games Champions in Archery:

         Daniel Gandy, Samuel Staward and William Brand


  • Year 3 & 4 Herts Games Qualifiers in Gymnastics

         Hayden Cartwright, Tilly Jones, Sienna Akore, Chloe B,

         Freya Edwards & Ella Little


Participation in the Herts & Ware Sporting Festivals and/ or InterSchool Sporting events:

Year 2 Multi Skills

Year 3 Cheerleading, Rounders

Year 4 Tri-Golf, Tennis, Rounders

Year 5 Cricket, WWW Games, Rounders, Tag Rugby, Sportshall Athletics

Year 6 Rounders, Tag Rugby, Sportshall Athletics, Basketball



With a total of 58% young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.



As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.  A special thanks to all Staff, Students and HWSSP. We look forward to applying once again in 2018 and achieving another Gold.
